15 years of the Smart Process Manufacturing Congress – we have been there from the very beginning

From September 30 to October 1, 2025, the Smart Process Manufacturing Congress celebrated its 15th anniversary. Over the years, the event has become a fixture in the industry. We are proud to have been a part of it since the very first event.

This year, we once again presented our expertise in digital and modular plant design together with our partner Dr. Michael Nussbaumer from Pruess GmbH. One focus was on Modular Type Packaging (MTP). It became clear that there are both supporters and critics of this approach. Among other things, the discussion focused on the areas of application in which MTP offers the greatest benefits and the extent to which standardized interfaces are useful in all cases.

Another item on the agenda was the deep dive sessions. Here, experts from the process industry provided insights into current issues and invited further discussion. Our managing director, Wolfgang Welscher, gave a presentation together with Dr. Anselm Klose from Flexcelerate Solutions and Laurids Beckhoff from Beckhoff Automation. The focus was on the question of how automated services that can be executed directly in the POL can be generated based on the functional description of a plant. The basis for this is the P&ID, from which an MTP is created with the help of our PlantEngineer software, which can then be imported into Beckhoff TwinCAT. The presentation provided an excellent basis for a subsequent discussion.

It is precisely this diverse exchange of knowledge that makes the Smart Process Manufacturing Congress so valuable. We would like to thank all participants for the interesting discussions and the organizers from Process and the Vogel Communication Group for hosting the event.

We can look back on a successful anniversary and are already looking forward to the next Smart Process Manufacturing Congress.
