Project insights, exchange of ideas, and a relaxed end to the day in the summer rain

MR4B Conference & Summer Party 2025

Kick-off of the first MR4B conference

On July 17, 2025, visionaries, researchers, and innovators gathered at X-Visual Technologies in the Adlershof Technology Park for the first MR4B conference.

Under the motto “Experience innovation with mixed reality – shaping change,” the WIR! alliance MR4B – Mixed Reality for Business invited participants to exchange ideas on current developments and perspectives.

As coordinator of the WIR! alliance MR4B and active project partner, we were delighted to host the conference and create a platform for professional dialogue and networking.

After the reception, alliance coordinators Jenny Orantek and Claudia Ghrawi welcomed the participants. This was followed by a keynote speech by Prof. Norbert Kockmann (TU Dortmund), chairman of the MR4B advisory board.

Project presentations from the alliance

This was followed by insights into various projects within the alliance: Felix Komander and Rebecca Lewerenz (HTW/TU Berlin) presented the “KEPLER” project, which is researching MR-supported construction planning and BIM processes. Hernán Muñoz (TU Berlin) explained how mixed reality is being used to support safety and occupational health and safety in the “MR4SafeOperations” project. X-Visual Technologies is a research partner in both of these projects.

Shady Khella (TU Berlin) presented the “MR Data Hub”, which deals with infrastructure and data standards for mixed reality applications in industry. Sarah Karioui (TU Berlin) used “Handbuch2AR” to show how instructions can be displayed directly in the field of vision and in a location-specific manner. Martin Steinicke (HTW Berlin) and Verena Sdorra (QCW Eisenhüttenstadt) presented the DIY MR Authoring Tool for creating custom MR training content. The KeepCool project by Selina Wernike and Teodora Ivoniciu (HTW Berlin) focused on AI-supported MR safety training.

All demonstrators were available for testing afterwards. Direct exchange with the project teams enabled further discussions about possible applications and challenges.

Discussion on technology transfer

The event continued with a panel discussion on the topic of technology transfer in industry, skilled trades, and SMEs. Moderator Willi Prasser (Logicalis) led the discussion with Andrea Trunev (IHK Cottbus), Dr. Hans-Hermann Albers (TU Berlin), and Lukas Becker (WISTA Management GmbH). The conference participants discussed how mixed reality and AI can contribute to the innovative strength of small and medium-sized enterprises.

Joint conclusion at the summer party

Following the conference, the third anniversary of the WIR! alliance MR4B was celebrated with a summer party. Despite the rain, guests and participants came together in a relaxed atmosphere. Elses Leibspeisen from Berlin provided soup, barbecue, desserts, and lots of enthusiasm.

We would like to thank all participants, speakers, and guests for their commitment and the many discussions. It was a pleasure to host the event and to work together to advance the transformation of industry with mixed reality and AI.
