With MR4B at the Hannover Messe 2025

Mixed reality to try out and discuss

From March 31 to April 4, 2025, the WIR! Alliance MR4B – Mixed Reality for Business was once again represented at the joint booth of the Brandenburg Economic Development Corporation at the Hannover Messe – and X-Visual Technologies was there as alliance coordinator and active project partner. Together with our MR4B project partners, we presented concrete applications and forward-looking perspectives for practical, low-threshold mixed reality solutions for use in industry and trade

Our team – Wolfgang Welscher, Jenny Orantek, Claudia Ghrawi, and Kati Kusché – was on site to provide exciting insights into current projects and developments. Our MR4SO demonstrator, which we developed together with Rösberg Engineering and TU Berlin as part of the MR4SafeOperation project, attracted particular attention. Visitors were able to experience live sample collection from a distillation column in augmented reality – a vivid example of AR-supported assistance systems for the maintenance and operation of industrial plants.

The first phase of the KEPLER project also met with great interest: Here, visitors were able to try out a virtual plant tour for planning optimization. In addition, other innovative MR4B projects were presented, such as Handbuch2AR, which enables digital plant documentation via data glasses, the DIY MR authoring tool for interactive, technology-supported training formats, and ViLeArn, which offers realistic learning simulations to secure skilled labor. MR4Heatpump presented a concept for heating system planning in existing buildings, while MR Datenhub demonstrated how uniform data standards can be developed for mixed reality applications.

In addition, we presented the MR4B alliance in all its thematic and technological diversity – and showed how experience-oriented and interactive technologies are already being used today and will continue to be used in the future in training, operations, and planning.

Another special highlight was the visit by State Secretary Dr. Severin Fischer (Senate Department for Economics, Energy, and Public Enterprises, Berlin) and Brandenburg’s Minister of Economic Affairs Daniel Keller. During the official ministerial tour, both officials learned about the current state of development in the alliance and personally tested the MR4SO AR demonstrator.

The MR4B pitch by our colleague Jenny Orantek, authorized signatory at X-Visual and MR4B alliance manager, also received a great response on the Energy Stage in Hall 13. She presented the alliance’s vision, tangible project examples, and the concrete benefits of technology-supported applications for companies.

In addition to the valuable exchange with representatives from industry, science, politics, and education, the great cooperation between all MR4B alliance partners will remain in our memories. Hannover Messe 2025 was a complete success for the entire team and once again demonstrated how much the MR4B alliance has grown. The increasing national visibility underscores the relevance of our work.

We would like to thank everyone involved for a great week at the trade fair – and we are already looking forward to the next big event:

MR4B Conference on July 17, 2025 in Berlin-Adlershof.
